How will this course help me get job?
Studies conducted by Gartner, International Data Corporation,
McKinsey, NASSCOM, Price-Waterhouse-Coopers, Stevens International
Consulting and others forecast a remarkable growth in India's
IT businesses and increasing job opportunities for IT professionals
in this sector. McKinsey alone projects India's 2008 IT industry
revenues at US $ 80 billion [Rs. 4,00,000 crores] and job
potential at 2,200,000. Emerging markets have been identified
as falling under 4 broad sectors - IT Services, Software
Products, IT Enabled Services, and e-Businesses*
Reportedly, on an average, for every direct job in the IT industry,
at least 5 additional IT-related jobs are created in businesses
that use IT hardware and software. Also, if employment opportunities
for Indian IT professionals through friendly immigration policies
in USA, EC, Australia, Japan etc are taken into account the
total demand for IT and IT related professionals may turn out
to be nearer to NASSCOM's figure of 3,000,000. Most in demand
worldwide will be versatile IT professionals - professionals
who have integrated mastery of fundamentals with across-domain
IT competencies, professionals who deliver performance under
pressure any where in the world.
Given the above positive scenario, the course will get you
Job ready.

Is there any demand abroad for Indian IT professionals anymore?
Skilled IT professionals are definitely required for the US
and other countries even today. The skills in demand are
networking, enterprise wide computing, multimedia and Animation
and specific technologies like J2EE, .NET, EAI etc. At least
two thirds of all IT professionals entering Britain now are
from India. In year 2000, Government figures show that 18,257
foreign professionals came to Britain out of these 11,474
were from India, three times the number in 1999.
What do you think has been the impact of US slowdown on Indian
IT?
The Indian IT industry is expected to grow at over
30% this year. There is no other industry in India, which is
growing at such a high rate. There is a shortage of trained
manpower in the IT industry today. "India's global competitive
edge of high quality software and competitive rates should
in fact see us win contracts when the market is tight. Given
that India's combined market share of overseas software work
to be a miniscule one percent the slowdown of business in the
US is not likely to dramatically affect Indian software development
firms".---Quote from Vivek Paul, President Wipro Technologies.
In the light of general economic gloom in US market, has enthusiasm
level in students fallen? What is the trend?
In most of the IT related areas there are lucrative jobs still
available for students who have the required skills. The unusual
hype in the media regarding the US slow-down is raising some
questions in students' mind.
Students are now much more selective in which course and institute
that they are joining. Institutes that have a reputation of
good quality content, infrastructure and faculty are the ones
that students should select.
At Nurture we are constantly monitoring the technical environment
and designing courses on the latest technologies. This ensures
that the students get trained on world-class technologies.
Also organizations that are able to provide placements for
students should be selected by them for taking up courses.
Nurture has a team of placement executives who regularly source
openings, prepare students for jobs and help them acquire jobs
in the blue chip organizations.
In view of so many lay-offs in the IT industry what's going
to happen to Indian IT professional?
The lay-offs in the IT industry are happening in the areas
of Internet and communication. This is primarily because of
the dot com crash. At the same time there is a lot of recruitment
that is happening in areas like networking, enterprise computing
and multimedia. India's value proposition of excellent quality
at competitive price is even more relevant now for the corporates
of the US, Europe or Japan. According to IDC , the US based
IT analyst the shortage of IT people in Europe alone stands
at one million rising to 1.7 million in 2003 so the myth that
the demand for IT professionals has disappeared is unfounded.
Are students retraining themselves in any particular area?
Give specific trends like -- move from C++ to Java or wireless
etc.?
Students who did short courses in Internet related technologies
like html and java without the underpinnings of fundamentals
of programming and system design, are finding that these skills
are no longer in demand. This is primarily because of the dot
com crash. Such students are finding the need to re-train themselves.
Are post-courses jobs easy to come by? How is the situation
different this year from the position last year?
We have been successful in placing more than XX% of the eligible
students last year. This year too, we have been able maintain
that trend. We have been placing over XX students every day
through our placement network. Students are getting jobs in
the IT industry as well as user industries. Newer openings
are available in the areas of IT enabled services, animation
and enterprise computing.
What are the advantages of JAVA over VB.Net?
It is too early for a mature language like Java to be compared
with an infant like Visual basic .net. As you might be knowing
that VB.net is just a language independent programming environment
while Java is a platform independent programming language which
makes it better than VB.net........Another advantage that Java
has over VB.net is the range of components that Java offers
are much more powerful than what VB.net offers. Java offers
Servlets, Beans, CORBA and components that can be used independently.
Using VB.net you can just create some class libraries, Dynamic
Link Libraries and small desktop applications and web applications
that are restricted to a particular platform.
Is .Net an operating system as it provides environment for
applications to work?
.Net is not an operating system.....it is an operating cum
development environment. It not only provides an environment
for an application to develop but also to execute. Using a
Visual Studio.net IDE you can even surf the net. There is an
operating system that Microsoft Corporation is currently working
on called Windows.net which will act as a platform for .net
applications.
What are the key point of VB.Net?
The key point and the only key point that makes VB.net what
it is today is its Full Object oriented support. VB.net is
an object oriented language which means that it supports classes,
objects, inheritance, polymorphism. Guess what......u can even
write a VB.net code using a simple editor like Notepad and
compile it with the Visual Basic Compiler (vbc.exe).
Is it compulsory that people who knows VB has to go for VB.Net?
Migrating
from VB 6.0 to VB.net is not too easy as some of the features
are completely new. But Microsoft Corporation have taken care
of this problem as they have introduced a wizard in VB.net
that will convert your existing VB 6 code to a brand new VB.net
code. It is not compulsory but recommended that a VB 6.0 programmer
upgrades himself or herself to VB.net because anything launched
next by Microsoft is going to be on terms of the .net framework.
Unfortunately VB 6.0 does not come under the .net framework.
What are the actual implementation area of VB.Net? Is it for
creating win forms or for creating web forms?
WinForms
and WebForms are a part of the Visual Studio.net IDE. These
tools are used to create attractive forms & reports.
The role of Visual Basic.net is to provide functionality to
the controls that are available in WinForms and WebForms. Using
WinForms without C# or VB.net is like having a car without
engine.
